College Basketball links (particularly UCI)
December 31, 2000 - Road Trip. December 17, 2000 - Los Angeles. For the first time in over a decade, the UCI Band got on a bus and went on a road trip during the regular basketball season. In fact, the last time I can recall us going on such a trip was back when the Big West allowed bands and cheerleaders to visit the other schools, and the last such year was around 1988.
November 25, 2000 - A Third Golden Age. After our first exhibition game against the University of South Dakota which UCI lost, by the way, we went to Pizza Hut in Newport Beach and communed with one another. Food was being provided...
October 30, 1999 - Reflections. It's been a month now since the quarter started and we now have a sense of what this year is going to be like. So far so good...things are going better than I expected. Usually, the band's fortunes follow the basketball team's fortunes with a one year delay.
November 22, 1998 - Trouble is Brewing. It's almost Thanksgiving and about this time, we have a good idea on how the band is going to be for the rest of this season. For some mysterious reason, our numbers have dwindled (like they always do), and this year, we seem to have taken most of the hit in the trumpet section. I knew it was too good to be true. I guess having 17...October 16, 1998 - UCI Marching Band? On Tuesday, October 13, the UCI Band performed on KUCI for an on the air "pep rally." As it turned out, we started the broadcast with the Fight Song, then in the middle played a round of "Go Big Blue" (Fresno Lick for you old timers), and ended the broadcast with the Fight Song. The KUCI announcers introduced us...
September 4, 1998 - Another year has passed and a new one is upon us. Last year, despite our rather small core nucleus of about 15 members, the UCI band made strong showings wherever it performed. Many people were amazed at how much noise such a small group could make. Even more amazing...

Music Department blurb on the various bands at UCI
UCI has three bands: Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band and UCI Band ("Pep" Band.) All bands are open to students, faculty, staff, and community members. Each band rehearses about 3 hours per week and two units of graded credit are available. One may also enroll for a pass/no-pass grade...
UCSD Pep Band
New modern, front-page looking site. The old one has been inactive for over a year (as for November, 1999). It took me this long to find the new one. UCSD is about our size, maybe bigger, maybe smaller. They seem to be more social, but not as active on the athletic front. Give them our schedule and we'll see how they do...
UCSD Pep Band (old site)
Who we are: As you can see, we're not a marching band. We're not a scatter band. We can't even ambulate on our own. We're just a sit-down, make noise, and yell at the other team kind of band.

USA Today - today's late breaking (real-time) sports scores - Each day this page contains a list of games to be played. Each game is a hyperlink to information pertaining to that game. It will ultimately contain a box score for that game. The box score usually appears within an hour after the game concludes and remains on the site indefinitely (good for hyperlinking).
USA Today - UCI Schedule and Results - This page contains UCI's schedule and each schedule item is either a hyperlink to another team's schedule (for those games which have not yet been played), or a hyperlink to the box score. Each division I university has its own page associated with it with these features.
Nando - today's NCAA scores (updated automatically every 3 minutes) - This page contains a table of all of the NCAA basketball games being played and their scores. However, that's all it contains; for a box score, use the USA Today site.

LA Times - Orange County Sports - There is no Orange County edition. However, search for UC Irvine Basketball and you will find articles related to UCI in one of their local editions.
Orange County Register Sports - The Orange County Register changed their website in early 2001 (thank you) and dumped the nice handy section that contained articles relating to UCI and replaced it with a single page with all of their daily sports articles.UCI New University - Home page for the New University. KUCI 88.9 FM - Home page of KUCI 88.9 radio
KUCI 88.9 FM Live Broadcast Feed - Live streaming audio feed for all KUCI programming. Try listening to this when the games are on (both men's and women's). Seems better and more reliable than the Real Audio broadcast feed that is provided for the games.UCI Men's Basketball Home Page

Real Audio broadcasts up men's and women's basketball games - Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. When it works, you can receive the KUCI broadcast over the Internet. Ideal for those outside the KUCI broadcast area, which is considerable given that KUCI is a 5 watt radio station. Better yet, with a more reliable feed, is the live broadcast feed that KUCI 88.9 FM provides for all of its programming.
Jeff Sagarin's rankings by conference - (USA Today site) The reference standard of all polls. Lists all division I teams in increasing order. Updated daily. Rankings based on a proprietary computer model.
Rating's Percentage Index (RPI) used by NCAA - Okay, this is not a Sagarin poll, but it is almost as good. This page is kept up to date and rates all division I teams. This is what the NCAA uses to select teams from the tournament.
College Hoops Insider - This is the home of one of the mid-major polls. It also features a periodic column written by Pat Douglass.
Mike Greenfield's (TeamRankings.com) Power Rankings - Another set of rankings for all division I teams. Contains a page for each division I team, e.g. UC Irvine. The team page shows the schedule and during the season the probability of who will win.
EPicks.com Rankings - Still another set of rankings for all division I teams.

Big West Top Picks - Lots of Big West links. Hosted by Arizona Sports Exchange (www.arizonasportsexchange.com).
DesertNiner's Page of Links - A reasonably comprehensive page of Big West links. Updated frequently. It also includes some LBSU news as it is an unofficial Long Beach State fan page.
UCI Fan Page - First appeared on Geocities in January, 2002. It's nice to see someone new take the initiative.
GauchoLocos - Website of a spirit group at UCSB. Includes a message board. Link to the left skips their snazzy introduction page (which includes various animations). Click here to visit their intro page.
Gaucho Bill - An unofficial UCSB basketball site. "As an alumni of UCSB and an official Gauchoholic, I felt there should be at least one page dedicated to the Gaucho men's and women's basketball teams."
The Unofficial Home of Cal Poly Men's Basketball - See RivalNet site for Cal Poly. Oops, never mind.
Long beach State Hoops - The unofficial Long Beach State web site. Site still exists but the author has moved his site to rivals.com. Now that Rivals is dead, maybe this site will be resurrected. See DesertNiner's link above.
Mining Company's Big West Conference Net Links - Fairly complete listing of Big West and individual school sites. Includes the official sites as well as a list of all the fan sites (including mine) and a list of the message boards. Nicely organized.
SoCal Hoops - Huge web site containing lots of information about Southern California high school and college basketball teams. It is worth checking their daily news section on a regular basis to see what is happening. They also have a message board. Uses frames.

The USA Today highlights page presents late breaking Big West news. The schedule and results page shows the schedule of each Big West team and has links to game results (and stats). The Nando pages are probably the most up to date of the bunch. However, their schedule page does not include any of the in season tournaments so bear that in mind. I have also included links to each of the Big West's CNN/SI team pages.

The Lurker's Guide is the ultimate, reference standard for all Babylon 5 web pages. In fact, it is one of the best organized web sites I have ever seen. The episode list page is where I go to read analysis and summaries of Babylon 5. Also, their modifications page is good for showing the most recent changed pages. |
|
TNT, the network which picked up Babylon 5 for its fifth season, has an official web site for Babylon 5. The SciFi network now hosts the official website. |
|
The Coaxial section of Ain't It Cool News has numerous articles relating to Babylon 5 and its sequel Crusade. Use their quick search and key in B5. |
|
John and Delenn's web page has good analysis of two of the main characters of the show. It also has lots of other information, sounds, and videos relating to the show. |
|
The Voltayre's ENCYCLOPEDIA XENOBILOGICA is a good reference for information about the various races on Babylon5. |
|
This page contains links to Tate and Rage's rather interesting commentaries on Babylon-5 episoses. Unfortunately, they stopped writing commentaries at the end of the fourth season but what they've got is still interesting to read. |

Computational Methods in Engineering I (C Programming). Will follow same format as Summer, 1998 and Winter, 1999.
Programming for Multitasking Operating Systems. The Winter, 1999 course went well but I intend to improve it. We are still using the Unix for the Impatient text for the user topics, but will use a new textbook, Linux Application Development, for the programming topics.
Systems Programming II (C++ Programming). This will be an intensive introduction to the C++ programming language and object oriented programming. Like Dr. Bough, we will use the Visual C++ programming environment.
Coming soon...
Computational Methods in Engineering I (C Programming). Unless I am hit by a truck, I will most likely be teaching this class again.
Java Programming with Internet Applications. I have been charged with spec'ing out a brand new course involving Java Programming. It will be an upper division course with ECE 40 or ICS 23 as a prerequisite. That is, we assume that you know C++ and will teach it accordingly.
Previously...
Programming for Multitasking Operating Systems. Here, also, is a link to Dr. Klefstad's ICS 54 page. Final enrollment was 15 students.
Computational Methods in Engineering I (C Programming). Final class enrollment was approximately 196. Course followed same format as Summer, 1998.
Computational Methods in Engineering I (C Programming). Enrollment was approximately 40 students. Course restructured to spend 8 weeks on topics through functions, and only two weeks on arrays and pointers.
Computational Methods in Engineering I (C Programming). Final class enrollment was approximately 158. Course spent 5 weeks on topics through functions, and fives weeks on arrays and pointers.
