Dear UCI Band Alum:
During our college years we form many of the friendships that will last a lifetime. As band members we shared not only rehearsals, games and bus rides, but pizza, parties, cheap motels and gym floors. The band allowed us to meet people not in our major and escape the studying rat race. The 1994-1995 school year commemorates UCI Band's 20th anniversary. From its student-run renegade beginning in 1975, to an athletics sponsored group in 1995, one person has been through all of its ups and downs as well as the team's wins and all their losses: Alan Niizawa. Alan has been the drummer, the director, the clarinet player, the leader, the consultant, the alto/tenor sax player, the organizer, the partier, and currently the bass player. You name it, Alan has done it in at least one of his 20 years with the UCI Band.
We have the basketball game on Saturday, February 18th designated as "Salute to the Band" night and would like as many past band members as possible in attendance. At halftime, Alan and the band will be honored for their dedication and years of service.

We will begin our anniversary celebration with a picnic at Turtle Rock Community Park at 1:00 p.m. The basketball game follows at the Bren Events Center on the U.C. Irvine campus (our call time is 6:00 pm). After the game we will be at Lamppost Pizza on Barranca Pkwy. in Irvine. You need to call Sharon at <phone# omitted> or Tracey at <phone# omitted> to RSVP for this once in a lifetime event.
