You guys are doing a fantastic job this year! I have received many
complements from the chancellor, faculty, staff, community and business
people around the area saying the band is sounding great. We usually don't
compliments and this many until later in the year, so this is a real
surprise! Keep up the good work! Then I'll be more inclined to pay for
dinners after games ;-)

Hey everyone,
When you have a chance, please review the band roster at

If your name is not on the list (this includes all Legacy members), you
will not be allowed into the Bren Center for basketball games. This is

are going to be really strict about this downstairs this year. So if you
are planning on going to any games this year, make sure you are on the list!

Subject: Attention students enrolled in Band for a grade.
Attention Music 173 Students
If you are taking this for a class, please review the syllabus and the
grading policy/grading scale. We will be posting a "midterm" progress next
week (on the bulletin board outside the room).
It is clearly stated in the syllabus (
http://www.pepband.uci.edu/class.html
) that if you are going to miss a
rehearsal or performance, you MUST tell one of the directors before the
rehearsal or performance. There is no excuse for you to tell us after the
event. Mark and I are easily available via email. You can also contact
me via phone if its close to call time. Any notes, emails, phone calls
after an event will be considered unexcused except under special
circumstances (death in the family, hospitalization, etc) We are closely
monitoring attendance this year.
Leaving an event early without telling either director why will be
considered a Miscellaneous infraction and will be deducted a point (as it
is stated in the grading scale).
If you have any questions about grading, please e-mail Mark and myself.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi everyone,
We would like to thank everyone for showing up for Monday night's
rehearsal! I hope everyone enjoyed it as well (as well as the free
food!) We hope to see everyone back for next week's rehearsal!
On to Announcements:
There has been a change in the schedule and you will receive new schedules
at next week's rehearsal. The women's volleyball game on October 9th has
been CANCELED. The game hasn't been canceled, we just won't be playing at
the this particular game. Instead, we will be playing two volleyball games
towards the end of the month.
Friday October 22nd vs Boise State
Saturday October 23rd vs Idaho
As a result, the rehearsal on Monday, October 18 will be a brief one since
we have two games that week. At the next rehearsal we will be confirming
that this will be ok with you guys. There might be FREE FOOD after both of
these games (a happy band is a band that gets fed right?). We will discuss
this more next week at rehearsal.
Later on this week, each member will get an email to confirming that the
information we received is correct. You may also a receive a survey in
this email. Please read and respond to this particular email at your
earliest convenience.
If you have any further questions or comments, please feel free to email
both of us!

Subject: Hope you had a great summer! (welcome week)
Hi everyone,
I hope everyone has had a nice and relaxing summer! School is
just around
the corner so I figured I'd e-mail you guys and see how things are going!
Anyway on to business:
As many of you know, welcome week is just ONE week away. The
band will
have an area out on ring road to hopefully lure many new people (and
possibly old members) to join us this coming year. In order to lure
perspective students we need our presence to be known! I am hoping that
ALL (no not just one) of you will be able to help us out in some way or
form. Details about this will be finalized soon so expect another e-mail
with all this information. For right now there are a couple of things to
bring up.
1. Flyers: We need them! If anyone is interested in making a
nifty, eye
catching flyer so we can post them on campus, please say yes!
2. A possible meeting before welcome week: Please e-mail me
back if you
are going to be in town between 9/16 and 9/18. We might have a meeting,
depending on the responses.
3. Welcome week: Are you able to help us during welcome week
(either
working the information booth, playing, posting flyers, etc). Everyone
better say yes to this one ;-) (unless you are on your death bed or working!)
SO, please e-mail me back with your responses.
For example (not to bias your response or anything):
1. yes
2. yes
3. yes
Hope to hear from everybody! Talk to you soon!
